Bolivia
I was lucky enough to explore both sides of Bolivia, a country with a distinctly split personality. In 2007, I backpacked across the Altiplano, crossing the Salar de Uyuni salt flats, passing strange, colour-changing lakes, trekking for eight exhausting hours across the Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca and being overwhelmed by the colourful chaos of La Paz.
In 2011 I returned to a very different Bolivia: the Amazon. Working in the gateway to the jungle, Rurrenabaque, I explored the jungle and the pampas, met local cowboys and paddled past pink river dolphins, soaking up the lazy, tropical vibe.
